DPD Laser Express Logistics is a company jointly owned and controlled by The Laser Group (Pty) Ltd (TLG) and, a wholly owned subsidiary of GeoPost, a parcel distributor specialist made up of the Express subsidiaries of the Groupe La Poste. GeoPost is the third leading European Express network with more than 20 hubs and transit centres in Europe.
It carried more than 464 million parcels in 2006 for 300 000 customers. Subsidiaries include (Germany), Chronopost and Exapaq (France), Parceline (UK & Ireland), Seur (Spain) and MarketLink (Poland). GeoPost recorded a turnover of R26 billion in 2006, a growth of 16% on 2005.
GeoPost Intercontinental has been tasked with two priorities; the acquisition of leading domestic parcel distributors outside of Europe and the development of an international network. Branded DPD, GeoPost aspires to be the world's 5th largest integrator. Currently through the GeoPost / DPD networks, 500 million parcels are transported per year through 600 hubs and depots in 230 countries worldwide.
